Does a qualifying time get you in?

Meeting the standard makes you eligible to apply to the High Performance Program; it does not guarantee entry. The course may have no more than 457 m of net elevation drop, and results must be publicly verifiable (watch or Strava data is not accepted).

Longer bars mean faster pace. Most runners who chase a standard aim a few minutes under it to allow for a bad day, a hot race or a fastest-first cut.

How to run a Sydney qualifier

  1. Pick an eligible, fast course inside the qualifying window — flat, cool and certified. Confirm it meets Sydney’s rules before you enter.
  2. Train for a margin. Use the race time predictor with a recent half marathon; you want a prediction comfortably under your standard.
  3. Pace evenly. Build a plan with the marathon pace calculator and print a pace band.
  4. Fuel and carb-load. Plan with the carb loading and race fueling calculators.
